Can I wash bathroom rugs with towels?

The rugs in your bathroom with the rubber on the back?

Can I wash them in the washer with the towels then just hand to dry when done?

Yup, you sure can.

wouldn't recommend it. the hot usually used on towels would mess up your rugs. i usually wash them on cold gentle all by themselves and hang them out to dry.

No matter how careful you are they will fall apart a little each time but you can.

Just don't dry them with any heat or they will curl up into a ball.

well i wash rugs seperaltly. they hold onto bacteria. and then i hang them to dry

use a dish washer

yes

How often do you clean your bathroom? Wash your bedding?

I wipe down the toilet, counters, ect everyday, and I wash the bedspread once a week.

Someone asked me the other day, "is that REALLY necessary?"

I dunno.. is it?

I wipe down the counters in my kitchen everyday, I scrub the toilet 2, 3 maybe 4 time a week. 1. cause I like doing it and 2. cause the toilets are dirty and nasty with all that pee and poop going into it. and clean the bathroom 1 or 2 times a week. Ive heard that poop particles go out into the air. bedding gets washed once a week.

It may not be necessary but hey its clean and less likely to get sick.

Which would you rather do unnecessary cleaning or have nasty poop particles flying around and sleeping in your own sweat, dead skin, and whatever else comes off of you at night :)

My bathroom gets a good clean (from top to bottom) at least once a week and then I spot clean wherever necessary (which is most days as my husband seems to find it near on impossible to keep toothpaste on his toothbrush and as we leave the bathroom window open to let the steam out, we get a fine layer of dust quite often that I wip off.

The toilet my boys use gets washed about 4 times a day coz they just aren't very good shots!!

Sheets & Pillow cases and protectors are washed each week and I wash the doona cover and woollen underlay each month.

I say, nothing wrong with what you are doing if you have time. Go for it!!

Bath 2-3 times per week I have kids so Ya.

I clean the sheets once a week.I am a housekeeper so I clean bathrooms all the time and I really think as long as

you have some shower spray and Clorox wipes your ok

just doing a once a week cleaning.I think its necessary

because it keeps away germs, viruses and hey others

views of you your home is a reflection of you.

I scrub my toilet 2 times a week.

I clean my floors 2 times a week. I also change my towels and rugs on the floor 2 times a week.

I clean my sinks everyday.

My counters I clean everyday that I can.

my bedsheets I clean once a week. (were always clean when we sleep so our sheets dont get dirty that much. I dont bother making my bed unless we have guests coming over.

I wash clothes everyday almost since my husband needs his uniform everyday for work. He gets dirty a lot cause he is in the army. so I have to keep washing clothes. and I change 2ce a day (its apart of my ocd idk why).

I clean my shower 3 times a week. I also clean my shower curtain.

I just cleaned today. I usually go overboard once a week in cleaning like non stop from noon to like 9pm im cleaning everything from cabinets to inside the cabinets to the carpets etc etc..

Oh and I vaccum twice a week. lol a lot of cleaning!

No you should be proud ^^. That is very sanitary! :] It's better than being a dirty lazy person that's for sure. Keep up the good work. Once you stop doing chores you start feeling lazy and your house turns into a disaster! It keeps you busy and is a very good habit. :)

Bathroom everyday

Bed sheets and spread once or twice a week. Depends on what mood I'm in, I guess. I like the smell and feel of clean sheets.

I have an Aunt that cleans her entire house, including wiping the mini blinds, every day. There's nothing wrong with a clean house.

my mom cleans the bathroom prolly once or twice a week, and the bed sheets once a week. she also vaccums every other day.

i hate dirty houses, im glad she does this!

It really isn't necessary, but what's so bad about having a clean house?

I wash my three bathrooms about once every three months to be honest.

Why do people go into restrooms and go to the bathroom and then not wash your hands?

I see this all the time especially at restaurants. It is disgusting. You mean to tell me your going to go to the bathroom, grab that dirty door handle and then go eat?

Call me OCD but I like being clean. I ALWAYS Wash my hands whether I'm at home or in a restaurant. And when I leave the restroom at the restaurant I make sure I have that paper towel with me to grab that handle.

I guess that's why I never get sick. It's August and I haven't had a cold yet this year (knock wood).

Just a simple survey:

Gender:

Age:

When you go to the bathroom, do you wash your hands when you are done and why or why not?

I feel you man! I am female and 21, and I ALWAYS wash my hands after using the restroom, especially public restrooms. Why do I do this? Because my mama taught me good hygiene habits at an early age and because I like to be clean!

It really is gross how many people don't wash hands after using the toilet. Men are especially bad for it. I mean, at least us ladies have toilet paper between our hand and our vagina when we use the potty. Men go in and hold their thingie, pee, and then come out without washing their hands. That's just nasty. How do I know this? I caught my bf doing it one time and have never let him live it down!

I hear ya! I get strange looks in public restrooms cause i get my paper towel before i wash my hands then proceed to turn off the taps with the towel after i dry them , then i grab the door handle with p.t. then if there is no garbage dispenser right there there's a good chance the towel is going on the floor. It may not be nice to do but they'll get the hint eventually. And just for the record I hate going in a public washroom and seeing those hand dryers -yuck. Yea maybe I'm anal but I'm not getting pee germs on my hands.

yes cos i DIY in toilets

I see it all the time!

Also I have to laugh at the people who quickly run their hands under the water, what's the point, all you did was give your germs a bath and a drink of water.

I volunteered at a local hospital and they showed how quick germs spread. They applied a powder ( represent germs) to surfaces, chairs, etc.

You couldn't see the powder unless you had a black light.

Before we left they turned on the black lights and you could see the powder all over our hands. Then they had us wash our hands the proper way. And again turned the black lights on to show how effective hand washing can be.

some people may be OCD's but there are people who tend to forget about how important it is to wash hands specially before eating. There are people who doesn't seem to care whether their hands are dirty or not. Some people are too preoccupied with other stuffs aside from the thought of handwashing. Well, it is a sad thing but it is for real. Good for you that you always wash your hands. Yes it is a good reason why you are not getting sick. Handwashing eliminates a lot of germs/bacteria?dirt that we get from so many things...but this can only be best if you do handwashing properly.

For your survey:

F

32

I do wash my hands, To get rid of the bacterias/dirt on it!

Gender: F

Age: 30's

I do wash my hands.

Reason: I am not a pig!!!!

Why I think some people don't: Because they are lazy and have bad hygene habits. I wish at least they would refuse to shake hands with the rest of us clean people!!

gender: Female

Age. 12

Of course I always wash my hands. And call me OCD too, I always make sure I have the papertowel with me to grab the handle. Not washing your hands is just GROSS. I don't get sick either.

Because they dont know the meaning of the word, "hygiene" people can be so dirty sometimes, if only they knew how much bacteria was really on their hands, then they would wash their hands. Gross!

Why do we wash bathroom towels?

I only use towels to dry myself when I am clean. If I also made sure the towels were taken out in the sun and wind and thoroughly dried, why should I need to wash them?

If you're the only one using them, then that's certainly your prerogative. However, you forget that when we bathe, we generally use warm/hot water, and that changes everything. When we are warm, our skin secretes more oils, and those oils are going to be there even when you've just stepped out of the shower - just not in the amounts you'd normally see. The towel is going to absorb those (along with traces of soap and whatever else you've used during your bath), and there is where they will remain. Sloughed-off skin cells will also remain behind, as well as hairs, and most importantly, bacteria that are on the surface of your skin. I'll go along with the idea that maybe you wouldn't need to wash a towel after EVERY use (especially your own towel that you'll re-use), but if you never washed it, eventually it would get pretty grubby.

Because every time you dry off you shed dead skin cells, which in turn will grow bacteria and smell. Germs...Yuck..:)

Cause when you throw a party, theres always some manky bugger who,ll wipe his **** on a face towel and keep quiet about it.

Don't wash a towel you use everyday. Keep using it for about 2 weeks. By that time it will be hard, crusty, and smelly!! Sorry, they need regular washing. A bonus for washing them is they get more soft.

Can I machine wash the rugs in my bathroom?

I'm wondering if I can wash those bathroom rugs in the machine and just hang them up to dry? They are your average bathroom rugs with the rubbery material on the bottom but they have no tags so i'm clueless.... please help!

yes, just dont dry them in the dryer.

Hand wash them or get a carpet cleaner .

So no .

I wash mine all the time.... just shake them out really good before putting them in the washer on gentle speed. After, check your washer because some of the rubber backing will come off and you don't want it clogging your machine.

I do that with mine

beware.. some of them are poorly made & will loose alot of thier fluff and you could find clumps in your washing machine -- if they do that, just get rid of them

wash on cold with a tiny amount of laundry soap & no bleach... some borax if you have it & then add 1/2 cup vinegar in the washwater

keep an eye on your machine as it can get out of balance while washing those

Then hang to dry.. I usually just drape them over the top of the dryer with the rubber side up

I look at it this way. If I don't wash them, they will eventually look so bad I will have to throw them out. If I do wash them, they may look great.. If I do wash them, and they ruin, I will have to throw them out. So there are really only two possible outcomes. I would wash them and see what happens. Don't put them in the dryer.

I clean mine in the wash all the time and I take them out side to dry. I wouldn't put them in the dryer because they have not tag on them to tell you if you can or not.

sure wash them alone though...sometimes the back stuff comes off but that usually happens in the dryer..hang them out to dry in the sunshine!

Yes cold water normal amount of soap DON'T USE DRYER!!

washing is fine. hang to air dry.

Yes. We wash ours all the time

Yes You can!

I do it about once a week, I usually just wash all of them together & if you have extra room in the washer you can add your cleaning towels. I use a cold/cold cycle and NEVER put them in the dryer this causes the rubber backing to crumble and dry up.

Just hang them in the sun to dry and they should be dry by the evening :)

Absolutely! BUT... make sure you use cold water and NO bleach. The warm water and/ or bleach will wear the rubber backing off of them. And no dryer either, same reason obviously. Good luck! :)

Hi, I always machine wash and dry my rugs and have never had a problem. They always come out like new. Just use a low heat.

Can I wash a bathroom mat in the washing machine?

I have one of those soft fuzzy bathroom mats that you step on when you get out of the shower. Can I wash it in the washing machine? Or what is the best way to wash it?

You can wash it, but if it has a rubber backing, you don't want to put it in the dryer.

first was afta purchase has to be hand washed. then you can wash it in the washing machine.

yes you can just wash it on a slow cycle and then don't dry it.I hang mine to dry on a laundry rack. I have also washed my small rugs this way.On cold water and a slow cycle.

I wash mine weekly, but put it over a clothes line to dry.

of course u can wash it in a washing machine, along with overcoats, rugs, sleeping bags, blankets, etc. etc. (the dry cleaning busines is a bit of a scam) only problem with those little bathmats is that they are often cheaply made junk and fall apart after a wash or two.

yes

Yes, put it in on the gentle cycle. Dry it on low for just a few minutes to get its shape back and then hang it up to dry the rest of the way.

You can defintely wash it in the washing machine :-)

You can certainly wash it in the machine. I suggest the gently cycle with warm or cold water. Hang to dry. You can refluff the bath mat by rubbing you hand across it several times or take it outside and shake it.

depends on the style... If it is one with the rubber noslip bottom, you should treatit as a carpet, and vacuum and spot clean or upholstery clean. If all it is made of is cotton or other high pile material without rubber on the bottom you can wash it in the gentle cycle, but i wouldn't put it in the dryer unless you know it won't shrink or ile up. Just air dry. A washer will wear out the rubber after just a few washes.

Wash in washing machine as usual and dry on low setting.

Absolutely! If you're in any doubt use the gentle/delicate cycle and air dry it, don't put it in the dryer if it has any rubberization on the bottom, the heat of the dryer would ruin it.

yes you can,i do mine every week, on a 40degree wash.

I always wash mine in the washer. And put it outside to dry.

Yes. But I would wash it by itself.

How do you wash bathroom floor mats?

I have white bathroom floor mats. One in front of the sink and one in front of the toilet. They are starting to look dingy. I looked on the back but there arent any tags that tell you how to wash these.

Can I put these in the washing machine?? Also, can I use bleach on them?

Wash them with cool water and bleach. Because of the rubber backing, do not put in dryer, hang on the line until dry.

Why have them at all? Bathroom floor mats always look yucky, like toilet tank coverings.

Why not go with nothing on floors, except a step-out mat by the shower or tub, that is only on the floor during use? Your bathroom will look and smell a lot cleaner!

~~I'm assuming they are rugs with rubber backing? If so-I wash mine in the washer and use warm or hot water but be sure to use fabric softener, it helps keep the backing pliable and it will last much longer. I dry mine on high heat, and they come out great. If it's plain rubber or plastic mats, I would just hose them off with soap and water outside.~~I would stay away from bleach, you can add vinegar to the bleach compartment-it gets fabric cleaner.~~

You can wash them in washer and dry them in dryer. However, I usually hang mine up to dry because generaly these rugs are very "fuzzy" and they really fill up the lint filter and every nook and crany of the dryer. I have found lint everywhere after drying them - and that can cause a fire in the dryer - so I just dont do that anymore.

After you have washed them (bleach usage linear to fabric color and pattern) to get them really clean mix some Ajax and hot water, grab a medium bristle scrub brush. (yep the ol hand held model powered by Armstrong) And scrub the hell out of the rubber side. It will make you sweat a little, but just think of ol Suzy "My Stuff Is So much Better Than Yours" doing her business on your toilet, reaching down to check how mungy the bottom of your bathmat is.....That is a.k.a. for Earning Respect!!

Put them in the washing machine on delicate or gentle. This helps to keep them from tearing up and looking ragged. I wash mine with Woolite. Use cold water to prevent the edges from bunching up. Hang dry, or dry on the lowest setting possible in the dryer :)

Yes, you can wash them in the washing machine with bleach. Hang them out to air dry because the rubber backing might melt in the dryer or over time the rubber could crumble.

I wash mine in the washer all the time just make sure you put the dryer on tumble dry when you put them in or they will fall apart on you.

Yes you can wash them in the washing machine. Warm water and very little bleach.

washing machine (alone) liquid bleach. air dry.
